All About Roof Cleaning

Black stains running down your shingles? You might be wondering what that is or if it can damage your roof, and the answer might surprise you. Aside form being unsightly, the algae feed on the limestone and overtime will eat away at that limestone and other fibers that make up your shingles. This can cause an unexpected bill requiring you to replace your shingles well before the time to do so normally arrives. In fact, having a professional clean your roof once every year or two can extend the life of your roof by 10 to 20 years!

How would we clean your roof?

Some roof cleaners use a pressure washer to clean your shingles, utilizing the pressure of the water to blast the algae away. However that can be very damaging to the roof and can cause costly repairs due to leaks. Clear View Window Cleaning uses a soft wash system that applies chemicals to your shingles. The chemical, sodium hypochlorite, does the heavy lifting, no need for pressure washing.  This chemical is only active for around an hour after applying to the roof. We keep grass and plants surrounding the area well watered to avoid any adverse reactions with the chemical.
